DESCRIPTION:Important Gothic Revival Library Table:  New York\, ca. 1840
 -60 New York\, New York\, ca.1840-60.  Walnut with white marb
 le top. Gothic inset decoration on pedestal base and drawers
 . Spandrel supports adorning the pedestal and top.  Quatref
 oil designs on base. Dimensions:  31"H  x 42 1/2" x 42 1
 /2" Purchased in 1960's by current owner's mother in New Jer
 sey Conditions:  Minor loss to veneer banding surrounding t
 op (see photos).  Marble top looks to be replaced due to cl
 ean edges. Drawer knob missing. This table is believed to be
  made in the New York City area around 1840-60.  The maker 
 of this table and tables like these is unknown.  A similar 
 but much fancier table in design and marble top currently is
  on exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  The table w
 as acquired in 1986 and came from the Frederick Deming Libra

 -1900&pos=50 Another table by this cabinetmaker was sold on 
 1st dibs.  This table had a replaced baize top and scaled d
 own in design from the table on exhibit at The Met.  It was
  exhibited at Hirschl & Adler Galleries\, New York in 2006. 
  In order to appeal to buyers\, cabinetmakers "customized" o
 rders according to the demand of the client.  On all three 
 examples of this table\, the use of identical design elements
